If Film Independent and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences had a baby live streaming on the Internet, it would be the International Academy of Web Television. The IAWTV is THE organization for the medium of web television aka web series. If you are a creative, executive or talent in the web space you should absolutely become a member. The IAWTV is shaping the web industry from the...

videojumper:
The stories that tend to get the most coverage in the web series world are success stories — shows signing deals, partnering with big companies or finding new outlets for distribution. Independent…

Not only did this video make me laugh but when I was driving today I actually saw a poster on Venice for “Crazy Stupid Love” where Steve Carell’s head was about 20% bigger than Julianne Moore’s head. I laughed so hard I was a danger to my fellow motorists. I wonder if this poster sparked the sketch or if it was a fantastic coincidence. Hopefully the former, but either way...

the blip.tv blog: Building the place to discover... →
bliptv:
Today we launched the new blip.tv destination site. The purpose of the new site is to give original web series a home on the Internet. That’s because, up until now, there hasn’t been a good site dedicated to the discovery of original web series.
Original web series are a product. They…
The new site is awesome and so is everyone over at blip.tv!

Not Just Another Saturday Night
In a rare form, when I suggested watching web series instead of a movie on a quiet Saturday night my girlfriend said yes. This was pretty huge, she knows how much I care about the space but getting her to actually watch shows is hard. She is incredibly supportive of the content I produce, which I greatly appreciate but I want her to get into all the shows I watch and love.
So, we ordered pizza and...

Get ready for some nerd talk, guys. See, apparently awhile back, I went on some epic rant at Barrett about how the show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was subversive and revolutionary for its time, eschewing previous Star Trek formula to instead push the limits of multi-arc storytelling in the…

Editing Cave
So, I am in the editing cave. Organizing footage and syncing sound. Then comes a month or so of hardcore editing.
I will try come out and post some new reviews in January. If you submitted your show, I will get around to you (in order of submission). I look forward to watching a lot of web series in the new year while I edit ours.
Merry Christmas!

WRITING IS ORCHESTRATED DAYDREAMING. Writing is not work, it’s daydreaming on paper. The work is actually sitting down and doing it. I’ve never been asked how to write a web series, until last week. The questions included how to structure a series, both an episode and an entire season. …

Bringing Culture to the Web, One Episode at a...
What Jamie Lou Moniz and Genie Willett have brought to the web series space with STALKER CHRONICLES is great. They have not only created a very watchable series but they are also teaching the viewer a thing or two while they’re at it. With every new viewer they fulfill their goal “to bring a bit of culture to the YouTube generation.” The series is incredibly playful and though it emulates...
